Started with an early breakfast and then off to the gym at 10:30 for a shootaround. Put in a few new out of bounds plays and went through some things then headed off to lunch around 12:30. I haven't talked about the food much but today we had polenta with roasted vegetables. I discovered polenta 5 years ago in Serbia and I really enjoy it. This was very good.
After lunch we had a pile of time off until game time at 6pm. I came back here and did some laundry and sent emails out to recruits then did some reading. I also sent out an email to my staff for the development team in phase 2. I showered up before the game and headed to the gym. We were playing the boys from a local club team today. We started the game out well and then they really turned up the pressure for the rest of the game. We didn't play solid against it and turned the ball over a lot. We battled all game and ended up losing by 5 or 6. A really crappy performance for the most part and there was no energy at all. We decided we would discuss the game after supper so I had a chance to spend some time with Sam and Rasheeka, current and soon to be CAPERS, who had come to the game to watch. It was really nice to catch up with them.
We headed to supper after this and it was decent but the 3 coaches were still stewing from the effort in the game. We tried to discuss some things and put the game behind us but we will all watch the film and then meet again. After dinner we came out of the meal hall and there were 3 deer standing there eating their supper. A short walk up the path and there were 3 raccoons enjoying theirs. A regular wildlife park.
We had a quick meeting when we returned to discuss the game and then the girls got some new gear for travelling. They are always excited when they get gear and hey so are the coaches.
I was going to watch the game film from 2 nights ago with a few players and break down tonight's game but none of that happened. I met with one girl and watched the film from the other night. That turned into an hour and a half discussion about basketball and life in general. That ended at 11:50 and here it is 12:20 as I type this.
Tomorrow we have an early breakfast and then an optional shooting practice at 10:30. Departure for airport is 4:30 and the flight leaves at 8:40pm for Paris. We arrive at 9:45AM in Paris on Sunday morning. We then sit for 5 hours and depart for Prague at 3pm. We arrive at 4:45pm in Prague. For nobody else but mom because she might be the only one interested, here is where we are staying.

We practice monday in Prague and then play the Czech Republic on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday we fly to Munich, Germany and then on to Serbia for a tourney. We play Italy, Serbia and Montenegro on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Monday we fly to Frankfurt, Germany and then on to Paris.
We have 3 days to recoup and practice in Paris before we play in a tournament on Friday, Saturday and Sunday vs. France, Spain and Turkey - 3 of the best in the world. Monday June 10 we leave Paris at 1pm and I arrive in Sydney just before Midnight. Whirlwind tour number 1 will be over.
Lots to be covered between now and then with emails and packing to be done.
So am I excited? A little bit. The long flights are never fun but once again the little round ball has given me the opportunity to see more of the world. I am so grateful for what it has done for me. Not sure where I would be without it.
From Sterling Road to the streets of Prague, Serbia, Cuba, France, Russia, Brazil, China, Japan, Spain and all points in between.......who woulda thunk it :)
My next post will come after a day of travel when we arrive in Prague
until then.................
